Since its inception more than three decades ago, Battery Park City has steadily attracted attention from locals and New York City tourists alike. A stroll through Battery Park City can be a very satisfying experience. Within just a few blocks, you can sit and relax in a lush green garden, check out nearly two dozen public-art installations, cool off (or warm up) at one of four diverse museums, and dine -- in some cases just a few feet from the Hudson River -- at your choice of restaurants. From a vantage point, you can see Clinton Castle, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
And nature lovers can enjoy several more glimpses of some of downtownâs greatest greenery, all hugging the western bank of the neighborhood, which also features small piers and footbridges in watery coves, picnic tables, and grassy open fields.
