Overview:
End of Summer is almost upon us, but the folks at the Brooklyn Children's Zoo will not allow it to end until every kid in the area enjoys every bit of it. So they created an irresistible schedule of events that no kid can go without. Here it is:

Friendship Fashion |
First Thursdays are free at the Museum! Bite into the meat-munching
world of carnivores. Learn which animals feast with their fangs, see a real
rattlesnake head, and get a crash course in the structures of a carnivore's
teeth.
Free Friday Family Jam:
Ballet Folklorico
Friday, Aug 5, 6:30pm
Discover the beauty of Mexican folk culture in an enchanting evening of dance
and music. See children and adults share their history through performance.
Strap on your dancing shoes and try to master the rhythm of the zapateado (foot
stomping).
Blooming Babies Weekend:
What's that Taste?

Sweet? Sour? Salty? Spend the morning exploring your sense of taste. Learn how
this special sense helps you experience the flavors of the world. Ages 18 mos. -

Wish Upon a Star

People all over the world look up to the same night sky and wish upon the stars.
Listen to a Japanese myth about star-crossed lovers and discover how their story
inspired a colorful festival. Write your own wish to send up to the stars. Ages
6+
Natural Wonders Workshop:
Animal Camouflage
Sunday, Aug 7, 1-3pm
From insects to birds, take a close look at how some animals can change their
colors to hide from predators. Pretend to be a camouflaged creature and see how
well you can hide. Design your own camouflaged animal to take home. Ages 7+

Tots! Camera! Action! Calling all pint-sized film enthusiasts to enjoy animated

Family Science Workshop:
Summer Salsa
Sat & Sun, Aug 13 & 14, 3-5pm
The garden is teeming with tomatoes. It's time to make salsa! Make a batch of
this tasty condiment using fresh ingredients. Take home the taste of salsa on
your tongue and the recipe in your pocket. Ages 4+

In the last concert of the summer series, delight in the beauty and tradition of
Chinese opera presented by the Chinese Theater Workshop. This Peking-style show

Celebrate Friendship Day at Brooklyn Children's Museum! Bring your best buddy
and make a colorful friendship bracelet to exchange with a special someone.
