Chinese New Year 2005

Overview
Gung Hay Fat Choy! are words that come from the well wishers and say, "May you prosper." This year, the Year of the Rooster, the celebration begins on February 9 and is the most important holiday for the Chinese families. Each Chinese New Year starts with the new moon on the first day of the new year and ends on the full moon 15 days later.

The last day of this celebration ends with the Lantern Festival. The Lantern Festival is believed to have originated in ancient times to usher the light of the sun after the winter.

The Chinese horoscope features the Rooster as the tenth animal. Therefore, people who were born during this year are considered to be aggressive, adventurous, and industrious to the point of overachievers.
